Preventing Kids' Cavities
  1. Brushing twice a day: Encourage your kids to brush their teeth twice a day using fluoride toothpaste. Brushing should be done for at least two minutes to make sure that all the teeth and gums are cleaned properly.
  2. Flossing: Flossing should be a part of your kids’ daily oral hygiene routine to remove plaque and food particles between their teeth. Help your kids floss their teeth until they’re old enough to do it on their own.
  3. Eating a healthy diet: Limiting sugary and acidic foods and drinks can help prevent cavities. Encourage your kids to eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.
  4. Regular dental checkups: Regular dental checkups and cleanings can help prevent cavities and other dental problems. Your child should see the dentist at least twice a year.
  5. Dental sealants: Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating that is applied to the chewing surfaces of molars to help prevent cavities. This is a quick and painless procedure that can protect your child’s teeth for several years.
